Lenten Wisdom

As we begin observing Lent as an EXP community tomorrow, here are some good words of wisdom from Proverbs 4:23-26 to help guide our time of introspection.

“Above all else, guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life. Put away perversity from your mouth; keep corrupt talk far from your lips. Let your eyes look straight ahead, fix your gaze directly before you. Make level paths for your feet and take only ways that are firm.”

This passage speaks to what one loves, what one says, what one looks at and what one does. As we prepare for the Resurrection, let Lent be a time to examine what you really love; to watch what you say; to guard what you look at; and to be careful what you do and where you go.

    Darrell and Jason,
I just wanted to thank you for introducing us to Lent. Last year was our first experience. We both gave up things that we loved, but also that were good for our bodies. This year God has called us to something so hugh in our life the only God’s power will make it happen. Pray with us to see His Spirit, miraculously empower us to sacrifice for Him as we remember His sacrifice on the cross for us.
